Getting started
Six steps, about ten minutes
This assumes you are using the Claude desktop app. Eklavya installs into it as a plugin. You type one command into Claude, once. After that you never need to go back to Claude, because you do everything in the dashboard. Claude just needs to be installed and signed in.
You need two things
- A Claude subscription. Eklavya runs on your own plan; we never bill you for usage.
- Node.js 20 or newer. Claude does not include it. Get it from nodejs.org if you do not have it. Eklavya checks for it in step 5 and tells you if it is missing, so it is fine to come back to this.
Get the Claude desktop app
Download it from claude.com, sign in, and open the Code tab. Already using it? Skip to step 2.
Buy Eklavya
An annual licence: £49.99 for the year, paid in full in advance, which saves 16%. Or 12 monthly instalments of £4.99. Prices are before tax. Press Buy and Install. Our store opens. For now you ask for an invoice there.
If the checkout doesn't appear, it's almost always an ad blocker. Ad blockers block payment providers by name.
Download your copy
The moment the payment goes through, a page opens with your download link. Paying by invoice? We’ll email your download link once your invoice is paid. Press it. A file lands in your Downloads folder. That is your copy of Eklavya, with your licence already inside it. Leave it as it is; do not unzip it.
Keep this link
It does not expire. It is how you install on a new computer later, and how you get updates. Bookmark it or email it to yourself.
Lost it? The email we sent you when you bought it has the same link, or have the link emailed to you.
Add it to Claude
This all happens inside the Claude desktop app. Three clicks, and the last one is a file picker.
- Open Settings, and find Plugins in the left sidebar. It is under the Customize heading, below Skills and Connectors.
- Press Add at the top right, and choose Upload plugin. Not “Add marketplace”, and not “Browse plugins”. Those are for plugins you have not already got.
- Pick the file from your Downloads folder.
That's all. Claude unpacks it and keeps it. It stays installed on this computer until you remove it.
If the upload is refused, the file was probably unzipped first by your browser.
Upload the original .zip, not a folder.
Type one command, once
Restart Claude so it picks up the plugin, then type this into the chat box:
eklavya start
That's the last thing you need to type into Claude. It checks what it needs, tells you if anything is missing and exactly how to fix it, and opens your dashboard in your browser. From here on, Claude only has to be installed and signed in.
If something was missing, saying eklavya start again
once it is fixed changes nothing that is already set up.
Everything else happens in the dashboard
It runs on your own computer, and everything it shows you is in a folder on that computer. It walks you through the rest, one screen at a time:
- The terms: what Eklavya will and will not do, in five sentences.
- This machine. The search runs here, so it has to stay on and awake at the hour you choose. You pick the hour (seven in the morning is the usual answer, so a catch is waiting before the day starts) and let the dashboard register itself to start when you log in.
- Whether you are looking now or preparing for a move later.
- The resumes you already have. Drop them in as they are; nothing is rewritten.
- Eight questions about what you are after: the work, the pay you need, where, the hours, what you will not accept.
- Farah (Agent, Career development) reads your answers and your resumes and writes your record. Press the button, or leave it to start on its own.
- Joel (Agent, Career development) works out where those roles are advertised near you. Automatic.
- The sources it proposes, each with a reason. Approve or turn down each one, log in to the ones that need it in your usual browser, and say so.
Then it says Ready. The dashboard runs the day's search itself at the hour you chose, or now if you press the button. After the first run it shows what it looked at and what it chose, or that the day was quiet. When a catch is ready, a notice appears on your desktop and stays there until you open it.
A laptop with the lid shut does not run anything. Leave the computer on and awake at the hour, or set it to wake for it.
If something goes wrong
- It says Node.js is missing or too old
- Install the LTS build from
nodejs.org
and say
eklavya startagain. Nothing was written, so there is nothing to undo. - Claude does not know
eklavya start - Restart it. Plugins load at startup.
- Nothing happens, and you are at claude.ai/code
- That is Claude Code on the web. It runs on Anthropic's servers and cannot see your files, so there is nowhere for Eklavya to install. Use the desktop app.
- It says this copy has no licence
- The copy came from somewhere other than your own download link. Download yours again and upload that one.
- It says the seat is on another machine
- One licence, one computer at a time. You installed on another computer since, and the seat went there. The dashboard on this one says so and offers one button: Take the licence back on this machine. Press it. The other machine stops; this one runs. If both are yours, the seat can go back and forth as often as you like. It's only ever on one computer at a time.
- The morning came and nothing ran
- Almost always the computer was asleep at the hour, or the dashboard was not running. Check the power settings, and open the dashboard: it starts when you log in, and shows the last run and when the next one is due. If it was not running, the search starts as soon as it is, provided the hour has passed.
- It found nothing for days
- A quiet day is normal, but a quiet week usually means your minimum pay or your distance limit is stricter than the jobs on offer. The dashboard shows what it looked at and why each one was passed over; loosen one thing at a time.
- The desktop notice does not stay
- On a Mac, notifications are banners unless you set them to Alerts: System Settings, Notifications, then the app that shows them. That is the one setting Eklavya cannot change for you.
- You have changed your mind
- You can get a full refund of a licence year within 30 days of its start. You don't have to say why, and it works even after you've downloaded Eklavya. You do it yourself with one click, from any of three places: the Your Eklavya email, your download page, or the profile screen in the dashboard. Nothing has to be installed first. The refund policy has the full details.
Still stuck? hello@polyglyphanalytica.com. A real person reads it.
Your phone. The dashboard prints a link that works from anywhere and a six-character code. Open the link on the phone, type the code, and both screens show a six-digit number. If they match, approve it on the computer. If they differ, do not. Each phone you pair gets its own key, and you can remove any one of them from the dashboard.
Keep it as an app. The dashboard offers this itself, and the button knows which browser you are on. Chrome and Edge install from the address bar. On an iPhone or iPad, Safari installs from the Share sheet: tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. Safari on a Mac uses File → Add to Dock. Firefox cannot install web apps at all; pin the tab instead.
Not using the desktop app? The upload screen in step 4 is part of the desktop app. In the terminal, VS Code or JetBrains, use the install command your download page also gives you. It does the same thing without the app. Claude Code on the web can do neither: it runs on Anthropic's servers rather than yours, so it cannot see your files.
Prefer to place it yourself?
It is the same file either way. Unzip it and put the eklavya
folder into ~/.claude/skills/, and Claude picks it up next
time it starts.
